What is a Porta-Shear?
Porta-Shear test equipment was developed originally in order to reduce or eliminate the cost of destructive test panels. A Porta-Shear test is identical in nature to lap shear testing, except that small, circular specimens may be cut at planned bolt hole locations and shear tested without damage to the panel. This permits lap shear sampling of 100 percent of production panels rather than a smaller sample size that can be repaired after the testing.
